Program Description:

SIT Study Abroad: Ghana: Globalization, Cultural Legacies & the Afro-Chic

Experience West Africa through immersion in Ghanaian cities, which challenge stereotypes of Africa and position the continent as a global economic, political, and cultural force. The central motif of this program is Sankofa, a Ghanaian concept that encourages engagement with the past to ensure sustained progress into the future. You’ll also explore the intricacies of hiplife music, media, and institutions that highlight Ghana’s position in a hyper-globalized world.

EARN A MINOR

SIT’s program in Ghana offers the opportunity to earn a minor in Africana studies or cultural studies. You will experience West Africa through immersion in Ghanaian cities, which challenge stereotypes of Africa and position the continent as a global economic, political, and cultural force.

SIT has given an average of over $1.3 million in scholarships and grants to SIT Study Abroad students in recent years and is committed to ensuring you have the information necessary to apply for such funding.
