“Passport to the World” Video Competition
Submission deadline: Extended to February 1st @ 5 p.m.
Voting period: Feb. 4 - Feb. 8

Apply to receive one of ten “Passport to the World” Awards ($145) intended to cover the application costs for a first-time passport. Make a 30-second video about your study abroad dreams by Feb.1, and you could win! Georgia College has been selected to receive funding from the Cultural Educational Programs Abroad Foundation (CEPA), a non-profit organization committed to the Institute for International Education's Generation Study Abroad goal increasing and diversifying the number of study abroad students from the United States by 2020. One of CEPA's many initiatives is to help students overcome financial and/or other obstacles which might prevent them from taking part in a study abroad experience. 

Eligibility Requirements:shantou dinner
  • First time passport applicants (renewals are not eligible)
  • Enrolled full-time at Georgia College (undergraduate or graduate level)
  • Studying abroad in Spring, Summer, or Fall 2019
  • Experiencing financial hardship and/or identify with groups traditionally under-represented in study abroad
  • U.S. Citizen Status or permanent resident
    

 Contest Requirements:
 
  • Create a 30-second video explaining how getting a passport would enable your study abroad dreams to come true. The submission deadline has been extended to Feb. 1, 2019
  • In the video, include your name and major, where you hope to study abroad, what you want to study, and how this experience will benefit your future
  • Email your video to gcsustudyabroad@gmail.com along with a word document of 200 words or less in which you address your eligibility for the competition. Video and word document are both due Feb. 1
  • Follow us on Instagram @gcsustudyabroad
  • Encourage your friends to like your post on Instagram!

Contest Rules:
  •  The top ten students who receive the most “Likes” during the voting period will receive an award
  • All winners will automatically become Bobcats Abroad Ambassadors on campus and will be invited to share their “dream come true” stories either during and/or after their study abroad experience through interviews, posts, etc. 

The deadline to submit your video and word document is Feb. 1, 2019. Afterwards, the International Education Center staff will review all applications and post only those videos which meet the above criteria to our Instagram page (@gcsustudyabroad). Students will be able to vote by ‘liking’ video submissions beginning on Feb. 4 and ending on Feb. 8.
 
Notification of Award:
  • Winners will be notified via email and GC Instagram
  • Winners will be posted on the GCSU and CEPA Foundation websites.
