FAQs by students:HOW MUCH CLASSWORK WILL WE HAVE WHILE IN EUROPE?There is very little ‘homework’ while in Europe. I designed this program to have all the content work during Maymester. After the program, students will put together a blog that is a narrative with images and film clips of their experience while in Europe. CAN MY FRIEND WHO IS AT ANOTHER SCHOOL GO ON THE PROGRAM? Yes, people who are residents of Georgia and are in an in-state university can join the program and pay in-state tuition; out-of-state residents can pay a small fee that allows them to pay in-state tuition. We have taken students from a number of colleges in Georgia and around the country. CAN I GO TO EUROPE EARLY AND/OR STAY ON AFTER THE PROGRAM ENDS? Yes, you can - after the program. Travel before, however, is not possible since you will be in a Maymester class which is too intense to handle if you are on the road. BUT, you are allowed to stay on after the program ends for as long as you wish. WHERE WILL WE STAY? Students will stay in apartments, agritourismo, and hotels. I have been able to book some great housing for the students! HOW WILL WE TRAVEL? We will travel using taxis, trains, buses, ferries, boats, and an airline (from Rome to Athens) HOW MUCH MONEY DO I NEED TO TAKE? This is a hard question to answer because it depends on how much you want to spend. Most days there will be some form of meal included — a cooking class, a learning dinners, or breakfast at the hotel or B&B. But not all meals are included. Plan to bring enough money to cover your basic needs—toothpaste, deodorant, etc., yous "free days" of travel if you plan to do some sightseeing on your own, some meals, and gifts for the folks who helped you pay for the trip. We can talk more about this when we meet as a group during orientations. I HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OR I AM VEGAN/VEGETARIAN, ETC – HOW WILL THAT BE HANDLED? We will work with you to make sure that you will have an option for meals if necessary. WILL I NEED A PHONE? Yes, it is required that you have a phone and that you can be contacted at all times. There are different plans—Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.—that offer special rates for overseas travel. I suggest a plan that includes your data. Most people have smartphones and it is nice to have access to a map. CAN I TRAVEL ON MY DAYS OFF? Yes, you can spend the day traveling to another town or region as long as you inform the program director where you are going, how you plan to get there, and when you will return. WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK? First, pack as light as possible. We will talk more about what to pack when we meet Learn More / Apply |
