GC France: Gender, Culture, and the Good Life
5/10/22 - 6/5/22
Spend a full month living in one of the world’s great cities!. Live like a local in the heart of Paris. We will examine some of the great 20th-century French thinkers’—Sartre, de Beauvoir, Camus, and Césaire--views on love and the good life. Explore how conceptions of gender shape thought, art and literature in France, and how African Americans such as James Baldwin and Josephine Baker were affected by their time in Paris. Visit the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre, and the Loire Valley, but also experience history in the making by observing the work of NGOs with migrant communities.
