Program Description:
Program Description:
Georgia College students who have submitted a complete application for a study abroad program may apply for the Georgia College Study Abroad scholarship fund.  Please use this application to apply for the Virginia Daniel Weir, Guy Herbert Wells, Morrarty, Wellington, and Minter study abroad scholarships administered through Georgia College.

Students who wish to apply for the Global Citizens Award should not complete this application.  They should only complete the Global Citizens Award application.  Students selected for the Global Citizens Award will not be awarded a second scholarship; students who apply for but are not selected for the Global Citizens Award will be considered for the additional scholarship resources by default, and no additional application is necessary.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria. More points will be awarded for:
  • Location: study abroad programs in lesser traveled to destinations
  • Duration: longer study abroad programs
  • Financial Need: demonstrated financial need
  • Essay: Essays that address questions of academic engagement, global and civic responsibility and have strong grammar, syntax and are well written.
  • Cultural Elements: study abroad programs with greater opportunities for cultural immersion
  • GPA: higher GPAs

If students score well, they may expect to receive up to the following award amounts based on duration of the study abroad program:
  • Academic Year: $1500
  • Semester: $1000
  • Short-term (6-10 weeks): $750
  • Short-term (less than 6 weeks): $500
