Welcome to Education Abroad at GCSU!
IMPORTANT: In order to receive credit for studies abroad, Georgia College & State University students are required to follow and complete the GCSU Study Abroad application process - and be approved by GCSU - before applying to non-GCSU programs and studying abroad.
Where in the world will you go?
- Study - or intern - almost anywhere in the world!
- Study for a few weeks in the summer, or for a semester or even an entire academic year!
- Add an international internship to your transcript and your resume'!
- Receive financial aid and scholarships to assist with the cost
- Earn academic credit in core, major or minor courses
- Take classes in English, improve foreign language skills - or learn an entirely new one!
- Gain the important skills beyond your major that employers are looking for in our global and increasingly diverse economy: the ability to work productively with others and in new and diverse situations, inter-cultural communication and inter-cross-cultural competencies, plus flexibility and adaptability, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Gain a deeper understanding of issues that impact the world - and our future.
- Have the biggest adventure of your life? Most definitely!
Let's Get Started!
Search for study abroad programs
including internships abroad and service-learning:
- Program Discovery allows you to search using any keyword. Most students search by city or by country.
- When searching, remember that you must apply to both GCSU Study Abroad through our online portal - and (for non-faculty-led programs) to the program provider (ISA, for example).
- Featured Programs highlight our GCSU faculty-led short-term programs, including the innovative GCSU virtual programs offered the Border-Free GC.
- Advanced Search allows you to search all programs, including semester and year options, by location, term, and more details.
Attend a Drop-in Info Session.
Drop-In Info Sessions are held most Tuesdays and Thursdays during the regular academic year in the International Education Center (the Bone House, located at 141. S. Clarke Street, across from the Old Governor's Mansion).
- No appointment is needed.
- Bring your questions about Study Abroad programs, courses, and scholarships, plus international internships - whatever!
- If you cannot attend a Drop-in info session, you can Watch a recorded information session.
Schedule an appointment with a Study Abroad advisor.
Whether you have attended an Info Session - or just have questions - set up an appointment to learn all about studying abroad. You will find that the process is much easier than you think.- For a semester program, email studyabroadinfo@gcsu.edu to schedule an appointment.
- For summer or other short-term programs or international internships, use the same email - studyabroadinfo@gcsu.edu - to schedule your appointment.
Apply for your program!
- Go to the online brochure for the program you've selected, and click the "Apply Now" button to login and begin your GCSU application.
- Be sure to carefully follow the directions provided and complete all required application materials.
- To secure your spot on a program, the deposit or application fee must be paid.
- Most programs have a posted application deadline, but some programs fill up quickly, long before the advertised application deadline.
- For semester programs, students should begin their search and application process at least six months in advance of the application deadline.
- IMPORTANT: If applying to any non-GCSU program - ISA, SIT or SFS, for example - you MUST complete both a GCSU application AND the non-GCSU application!
Need more help completing the online application? Look at this PowerPoint presentation that has step-by-step instructions, plus screenshots: Using Terra Dotta - Students.pptx or check out this short video.
